All nine temples close in the afternoon, roughly between 12:30 and 4 pm. Hours marked ~ are approximate; timings and festival dates change with the Tamil calendar, so please check before you travel.

Day one · West

Kumbakonam temples

Leave around 5:30 am. Thingalur (Chandran), Alangudi (Guru) and Thirunageswaram (Rahu) before noon. Lunch in Kumbakonam, then Suryanar Kovil (Suryan) and Kanjanur (Sukran) after 4 pm. Back for dinner at Crave.

Day two · North

Thirunallar and the coast

Early darshan at Thirunallar (Sani), 5 minutes away, and breakfast back at the resort. Then Keezhaperumpallam (Ketu), Thiruvenkadu (Budhan) and Vaitheeswaran Koil (Angarakan) before 1 pm. Afternoon by the pool.

Slower pace

Prefer fewer temples a day? Split day one across two mornings and add Koothanur Saraswathi temple or Thirukadaiyur, both close to the resort.

Many families begin at Suryanar Kovil by tradition. Our travel desk can reorder the route and plan it around temple closing hours (about 12:30 to 4 pm) and festival days.

Where should I stay for the Navagraha temple tour?

RK Resorts in Thirunallar is about 5 minutes from the Saneeswaran temple and about an hour from most of the others, a calm base for a two-day circuit.

How many days do I need for the Navagraha temples?

Two days is comfortable. It can be done in one long day, but temples close between about 12:30 pm and 4 pm, so one day is rushed.

What are the special days for each Navagraha temple?

Suryan on Sundays, Chandran on Mondays, Angarakan on Tuesdays, Budhan on Wednesdays, Guru on Thursdays, Sukran on Fridays and Sani on Saturdays. Rahu and Ketu are worshipped during Rahu Kalam. The big festivals are Sani Peyarchi at Thirunallar, Guru Peyarchi at Alangudi and Rahu–Ketu Peyarchi at Thirunageswaram and Keezhaperumpallam.

What are the Thirunallar temple timings?

Usually 6:00 am to 12:30 pm and 4:00 to 8:30 pm; on Saturdays from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm. Timings change on festival days.

Is there a dress code at the Navagraha temples?

Traditional dress is expected inside the sanctum. Avoid shorts and sleeveless clothing.
